I hope you've been enjoying the Mindful Morning ebook and are discovering ways to incorporate one or a few of your own custom-made practices into your daily routine.
I know that some of us might not have the luxury of creating a calm, lush, long mindful morning, and so I reiterate the importance of taking things slow - one thing at a time - and discovering what works for you for now.
The issue is not necessarily that we lack the resources to make our mornings or lives more mindful (how various societal norms have compromised our physical and mental wellbeing alongside internet information overload are nuanced topics for another time).
One issue as I see it is general cultural conditioning: to get up and go; to rely on caffeine in order to function; to bypass how we’re feeling in order to push through the day; to accept an ultra busy lifestyle as “normal” (sometimes without much of a choice); to check out when we’re not busy; to study a variety of other subjects instead of physical and mental health or preventative care practices.
I share this because I can relate: I can easily get sucked into an internet whirlpool and to-do list items - among other things - throughout the day, which is why making my earlier hours more mindful has been so important for me in enhancing my mind-body health and my day / my life as a whole.
The solution is not one cure-all thing (we are all unique precious unicorns!) (also baking soda is maybe a cure-all thing…?), but rather a tool belt of multifaceted tools that can be accessed when / if / however we need them.
On that note: let’s recap a few key suggestions that can help you curate a nourishing morning ritual to accommodate your goals, needs, and lifestyle - whether you have the time or desire to try all or just 1 of them, or maybe they’ll inspire you to try something else entirely that puts you in a mindful headspace:
Wake Up Mindfully: Start with a few deep breaths, a moment of appreciation, or a short meditation instead of immediately reaching for your phone.
Quick Journal: Jot down what you’re grateful for, ideas or desires, current feelings and emotions, dreams, or intentions for the day.
Move It: Stretch a bit (even if it’s in bed), go for a walk, or enjoy a brief yoga session - whatever feels good for your body, whether for 30 seconds or 50 minutes.
Love Your Body and Planet: Choose eco-friendly and non-toxic products for your morning routine - including apparel made from natural materials - when possible.
Nourish Yourself: Enjoy a satiating breakfast and / or beverage with fresh, whole ingredients as often as it’s feasible to do so.
Reflect and Carry On: Notice how these practices (or products) make you feel and do your best to carry positive, mindful energy into the rest of your day.
Rinse and repeat - modify if and when necessary to suit your needs.
Remember, these practices aren't just about having a good morning - they're about setting the tone for a healthier, more mindful life that benefits you and the planet.
If you're feeling motivated but unsure how to integrate or implement these practices into your life, you're not alone.
Maybe you're:

What’s one feasible shift you might make based on your ideal transformation?
(One small change I’ve been making: waiting to check my phone after taking at least 3 long breaths in the morning and expressing my appreciation for waking up - even if I’m tired and cranky and don’t feel like getting out of bed.)
Here’s to our individual and collective journeys.
Take good care,
S
I love that. Small changes lead to big transformations. Keep spreading the good word.
